After reading the multigenre articles and Writing Without Boundaries chapter, you should begin formulating ideas and opinions of multigenre writing and possible projects. On your blogs, respond and think about the following:
What is a multigenre project? What are the ingredients? What is your recipe for HOW you might create a MG project? WHAT TOPICS ARE YOU CONSIDERING FOR a MG PROJECT? How might you begin in your classroom? Here are a few sites you may find helpful for engaging in research with your students as well as your own research:

Review the lists of genres in the Moulton article (p. 531) as well as others and the links to a list of genres and possible genres.pdf . What would you add to the list? Which genres have you already taught? Which might you choose to focus on in your classroom? Think about one genre in particular that you may introduce to your students. Can you find examples of the genre to bring in to our next class (brochures, letters, etc.)?

Teachers and Students Engage in MG Research!
Rachel Lamb, 4th-grade teacher, has completed MG Projects for the past 4 years! Check out her site:
Student Invitation and Assignment
Kelly Beckley-Former 1st-grade teacher created her MG Project on Community Helpers. She combined the “-ology” format and Amelia’s Notebook. Check out her Blog: http://kellybeckley.wordpress.com/multi-genre-assignment/
Kristen Wahl, a 3rd-grade teacher created her own MG Project on Walt Disney. In her own words:
“Following the completion of my multigenre project, I incorporated this idea into my own classroom. My third grade students completed a research project on a famous American. Each student designed a poster with different genres of writing including a biography, timeline, pictures and captions, and a graphic organizer that described his or her accomplishments. My students enjoyed this research project and the freedom to research topics that they found interesting. They gained a lot of knowledge from this project and became familiar with the different genres of writing that the world has to offer.”

Thank you so much for these great sites. I would never have enough of my own time to search and find such great things.
A Multigenre project is a complicated undertaking that actually produces great rewards. It compels the creator to think outside of “just the facts, maam”. (That quote is for those of you over 40) I appreciate the complexity and authenticity of the project, especially with historical events, people from any era, and science. The broad range of available topics and presentations will inspire any student’s work and interests.
